The problem is due to the CA product blocking attempts by the GridEx20 component to read information from the Windows system registry. It does this as a defence mechanism against malicious code but unfortunately is a little over zealous. Sometimes, during the first program run, CA Personal Firewall prompts for permission to read. If you select "Block Always" the program will be unable to start.
To remedy this situation, and assuming that you have not deliberately set any of the firewall rules for other applications, I suggest this as the course of action:
- Activate CA Personal Firewall if deactivated
- Reboot your machine.
- Open CA Personal Firewall:
- Click "Options" on the top tool bar
- In the General Options dialog that pops up click "Restore Default Settings" then "Yes"
- Start Command Flight Planner:
- "Retrieve Details" from the My Account panel. It may be blocked, and you may have to try twice. If CA asks permission select "Allow Always".
- Exit CFP
- Back in CA Personal Firewall:
- Select "SafeGuard" in the left tool bar
- Select the "Program Control" tab
- Find the program entry ending in "CFP.exe", double-click the entry to open the edit dialog.
- Select the "Allow this program to safely access keys protected by Registry Protection"
- In the Program Group Assignment list select the "SafeApps" check box
- Select OK.
