Export route to Oziexplorer

Postby nlagalle » Fri Feb 19, 2010 10:41 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if there was any thoughts on being able to export a flight plan to an Oziexplorer RTE format?

Cheers,

Nick

Hello nlagalle,

I haven't given specific consideration to Oziexplorer format. I've sent a request to the maker of Oziexplorer to see if the file format is documented and open. GPX and Google Earth (KML) exports, both of which should be readable in Oziexplorer are already in my suggestions list.

Hi Chris,

It's bascially a text file. I'm happy to supply one. It would make a great pair being able to send your flight plan to Ozi Explorer and use it as your moving map display.

Cheers,

Chris,

I've noticed that the full version of GPS utility allows you to export to the various Ozi formats.

And i saw this in the GPS Utility help notes:

The Command Flight Planner Premium Edition has the full capability of the GPS Utility registered edition. To obtain this Edition you need to register the product. See How to Register.

Can you shed some light on this?

Cheers,

The version of GPS Utility ( http://www.gpsu.co.uk/ ) bundled with the Command Flight Planner is a cut-down version roughly equivalent to the free version but with a some basic branding added and most of the import/export functions disabled. You may like to try the free version from that web site to see if it does what you require.
You are able to purchase the full version of GPS Utility, i.e. the Premium Version, from the GPS utility author at http://www.gpsu.co.uk/ to remove any remaining limitations.

To interface with the bundled GPS Utility the Command Flight Planner writes a text file of route information into
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files\Command Flight Planner\Data\GPSU\CFPGPSUData.txt

and launches the bundled program. That file persists after closing the bundled application, and you should be able to open it in any version of GPSU.
